A tummy tuck can get rid of the excess skin and might give you a more permanent, lasting result as opposed to liposuction after the birth of a child. However, moms planning to have this procedure must be done with having more children as it involves having the skin on the tummy area permanently improved. So mothers, the choice is yours.

It might seem that if there is no pain, there is no problem. However, doctors insist that pain is necessary: it forces a woman to complete the process of birth – to strive to end it with the birth of a baby. If there is no pain, there is no desire to make an effort.
According to Doctor of obstetrics Dennis Walsh from the University of Nottingham, England, the pain during childbirth has its own advantages for both mother and baby. He emphasizes that painkillers, such as epidural, violate the natural process of psychological connection between the mother and the child.
Dr. Walsh says that labor pain often helps to regulate the time of delivery, reinforces psychological connection between the mother and the baby, and prepares the woman for motherhood responsibilities.
Over the past 20 years, the use of epidural anesthesia has doubled. In fact, it is used only on demand of women in labor, even despite the fact that the medicine increases medical risks during childbirth and despite the availability of alternative and less invasive ways to control pain symptoms.
Meanwhile, according to Dr. Walsh, the pain has positive physiological effects, allowing to set the rhythm for the contractions and activate the production of endorphins, the hormones that help to adapt to the feeling of pain.
The doctors have noted that the use of epidural anesthesia facilitates side effects, such as the need for hormone replacement therapy during labor and the use of forceps for the child to be born safely.
According to the research by Swedish doctors, one should not overuse these painkillers at least because of the fact that the risk of drug addiction among the adolescents, whose mothers received morphine drugs during labor, is five times higher.
The nervous system of the baby “remembers” the narcotic analgesic. And then, if one day the teenager gives it a try, there will develop a fast and strong addiction.
Dr. Walsh says that alternative methods of reducing pain are safer for both the mother and the newborn baby. For instance, he suggests using the technique of hypnosis, massage, yoga, and birthing pools.
It is believed that the woman, who is psychologically ready to deliver a baby, who is able to breathe properly, is well aware of all the phases of labor, who is able to control herself and is aimed at the result, can cope well without painkillers.

Gemma complains she has forgotten what a party with friends is like. She has forgotten the taste of champagne, whiskey, and wine. She will never be able to find a good job again, and all of that is because she is constantly pregnant. Gemma loves her children and her husband, but she is terribly afraid to once again discover that she is pregnant.
The woman decided that in future she would take advantage of this feature of her organism. After giving birth to their fourth child, Gemma is going to become a surrogate mother.

During this time, men and women consumed 1,000 calories more than required to maintain a stable weight, but at the same time their diets contained different amounts of protein.
The representatives of the first group, whose extra ration by 90% consisted of fat, lost an average of 700 grams of muscle mass, whereas the participants of the second and third groups, whose diets contained normal and high amounts of protein, increased their muscle mass for the average 2.7 or 3.1 kilos respectively.
The results of this study refute the old myth about protein diets. It has been believed that increasing or decreasing the amount of protein, you can gain and lose fat. The truth is that you will lose muscle mass, rather than fat, which is especially bad for older people.
The daily recommended rate of protein is 46 grams for women and 56 grams for men. However, the experts say this amount is very approximate and is capable of maintaining muscle mass in some people, but not everyone. It is necessary that one should use up to 78 grams of protein a day, to provide the complete “nourishment for the muscles,” and control the appetite. You can rely on low-fat foods – white meat, cheese, yogurt, and ocean fish – since they are high in protein.

And even if the child moves almost imperceptibly, any change in the position of its body increases the heart rate of the expecting mother. However, they must first of all learn to listen – to listen to their children’s opinion to the end, to try to understand the motives which prompted the child to commit a particular act. This is the basic pattern of behavior, which the teenager copies and will continuously apply in life, including interaction with peers.
The skill of reasoned argument will be very useful when a classmate or a friend from the neighborhood will offer your child to try alcohol or drugs for the first time. It is not simple to abandon the “temptation”, because one can easily do anything “in a company”. And if a teen has an argument and the skill of using it, he or she can prove the peers that drugs and alcohol will not do any good in one’s life. At the same time, the teenager will retain the “reputation” in a social group, which is so important in this age.
Of course, parents can simply demand compliance with some rules of conduct, but the consequences of such pressure on the child are unpredictable – the teenager may act in the opposite way, thus demonstrating the protest.

Britain’s leading dentist Catherine Hurley explains that fruit juices and cocktails, as a rule, are very acidic, and their pH levels range from two to three. And every time the environment in the mouth is more acidic than pH 5,5, the teeth get vulnerable to “acid attacks”. Parents, of course, understand that their child’s uncontrolled use of sweets can lead to tooth decay, but they do not know anything about acidity. Propaganda is certainly to be blamed for this, since it makes an emphasis on the harm of sweets, and juices are declared healthy drinks. According to Hurley, the most interesting thing is that the terrible picture of the “deterioration” of children’s teeth is observed more frequently in affluent families where parents do not spare money on healthy eating: fruit juices, smoothies, milkshakes…
So if Hurley’s message is heard, in the near future the manufacturers may be obliged to warn about the harm caused by fruit and sugary drinks, rather than tell about their health benefits. In the meantime, a good way is to offer your kids a straw if they are so fond of drinking juice instead of water. In addition, if the juice is drunk together with food, its negative impact on the teeth is greatly reduced. And this is the doctors’ second recommendation. It will also be good if you drink some plain water after juice, or rinse your mouth with water.

At least two popular lipstick brands have lead levels above the threshold considered safe (5 ppm) in personal care products in the state of California, according to FDA researchers.
Lead is a neurotoxin that is particularly dangerous for pregnant women.
In the FDA testing, the most-contaminated brand, Maybelline Color Sensation made by L'Oreal USA, had lead levels more than 275 times the level found in the least contaminated brands, and more than seven times higher than the average found in all the lipsticks.
The FDA researchers, who tested 400 brands of lipstick, have concluded that the problem is much more widespread among lipsticks sold to U.S. customers than the agency's previous research had found.
According to Jane Houlihan, senior VP for research at Environmental Working Group, "Millions of women get a little bit of toxic lead on their lips each day with every swipe of their lipstick"
"There is no safe level of lead exposure. The biggest concern is for pregnant women – lead is a potent neurotoxin and the fetus and very young children are most at risk. Some companies make lead-free lipsticks, and we think all companies should."
EWG has addressed a letter to Linda Katz, M.D., M.P.H., director of FDA's Office of Cosmetics and Colors, that reads, "Your new analysis found lead levels in lipstick more than twice as high as your previous report. As in previous studies, certain manufacturers consistently have higher lead levels than other brands... Clearly, some manufacturers could be doing more to protect women from unnecessary lead exposure."

Norwegian scientists have proved that the children, who are given a more intense academic load at school, may enhance their natural IQ level.
The fact that the school provides knowledge and adds more reason is not new. However, early studies on this subject show that the children with high IQ levels have most likely received a better education than others. Now, there is strong evidence that additional education makes the child more intelligent. We are talking about years, and not about seven classes a day and the load of numerous elective courses.
How did it become clear? Some time ago, there was an education reform carried out in Norway, and the period of secondary education was increased for two years. The scientists compared the data of the people, who had studied before these developments and after them. It was found that the additional workload had had a positive impact on the growth of the rate of schoolchildren’s mental development, and their IQ had been increased by 3.7 points on average.
The results of this study are sensational, at least because the vast number of psychologists and educators continue to believe that IQ level is determined by genetic factors. They claim that IQ is stable and not susceptible to any modifications. And for them, it is a matter of faith rather than of scientific findings.
So, if your child has decided to quit school and go get secondary special education, try to convince him or her that a few extra years at school will give him more intelligence.

A new study by the researchers from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth denies the dogma that small portions help to lose weight.
“Often, nutritionists advise to use a small plate as a way to control your appetite, but it can not be considered an effective strategy, – Ming Sha, Professor of Kinesiology, says. – Our study showed that obese people had inadequacies with processes responsible for hunger and satiety, so that portion size has nothing to do with it.”
The study involved 10 women who did not have any weight problems and 10 obese women. On the first day of the experiment the participants ate from small plates (21 cm in diameter), and on the second day they used bigger ones (27 cm). There were no limitations in food consumption. The women ate until full saturation, and it was observed that the diameter of the plate did not play any role for them.
One would assume that overweight women had a greater sense of hunger. However, it turned out not to be true. At first, they ate as much as the women with normal weight, but then, after a while, the participants reported that they still felt hungry. In other words, the overweight women received as many nutrients as their opponents did, but did not feel satiety. Scientists believe it is the proof that the problem must be sought not in the plate size, but in overweight people’s organisms, because they have a reduced feeling of hunger and satiety.

The researchers from the National Institute of Child Health and Development (USA) have analyzed the data on health status, lifestyle and diet of more than 13,000 women aged 22 to 45 years. Approximately 6% of the participants of the study reported that they were diagnosed with “gestational diabetes” (diabetes of pregnant women) during pregnancy. This disease is characterized by the period of gestation, it is accompanied by a breach of carbohydrate metabolism and increases the risk of complications during pregnancy. The disease may also affect the health of the newborn baby.
After analyzing the statistics, the researchers found that the women, who liked much animal fats and foods high in cholesterol before pregnancy, had a twice higher risk of getting ill with gestational diabetes.
The experts recommend that the women, who are preparing for pregnancy, reduce the consumption of foods containing large amounts of fat and cholesterol. For example, if the number of animal fats is reduced by at least 5%, the risk of gestational diabetes is reduced by 7%.

People eating their breakfast listening to the television in the background hear the word diabetes, then the rest of the commercial, then think they automatically know what my son is going through day in and day out. One commercial on how to eating right and exercise can help control your diabetes, and they think they have the lock on how to help my five year old 'control' his diabetes. Every one of these commercials would make my son's life a whole lot easier if they would just use the full title of this particular disease, Type 2 diabetes.

Or at least add a disclaimer saying something like, "While our commercial/news story/Public Service Announcement will help people with Type 2 diabetes, please leave people with Type 1 diabetes alone, this does not pertain to them." Obviously, I know this won't happen but it would be nice.

I saw this on a web page of a nurse that my son will have to work with one day in a future school that he will attend.

A school nurse is a respected authority on health information, and the fact that this statement would be placed out there for everyone to read implies that my son, my child, possibly didn't eat breakfast and that is why he became 'diabetic.'

My son should not have to answer to another five year old about whether he ate breakfast or not, and whether that is why he has diabetes or not. Addition of the simple term 'Type 2' would educate people immediately that there is more than one type of diabetes. It wouldn't explain the whole story, but it might stop one person from saying something so insensitive and so inappropriate to my son so he doesn't even have to question whether his breakfast choices may or may not have caused his diabetes...which we all know they didn't.
